If you are used to the Ford F-150 gas version, then you are in for a treat with the Lightning pickup, too, and to be honest, the pickup has the world talking.
Whatever Ford does, it has the world looking close and wanting to be a part of it, and now Ford has gone ahead and brought in an all-new Pickup truck with an EV variant.
Yes, you read that right the only difference between your standard 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is the powertrain.
Lightning is fueled by an electric motor, and a good one at that, which gives the pickup the much-needed push into greatness.
While the electric pickup does have its downside, you can not help but ignore it because of all the benefits it offers.
The world is always ready for Ford and its new inventions, and at the end of the day, we know Ford is reliable, and thus it maintains ti retain its loyal fan base.
The electrical variant of the Ford F-150 was all set to launch for the model year of 2023 around the August of 2022.
So, you can now go and pick up your truck for a test drive and book at any Ford showroom or in the dealerships near you.
Ford F-150 Lightning takes a massive hike in price this year, and it is a never before seen one.
With the prices of entry variants shooting up, experts still prefer the XLT Extended Range model, which begins at a price of $82,769. Well, are we sure this is the price of a pickup truck, yeah, we are.
If you are pinning on taking the pickup for long drives or loaded tows, we suggest you chip in another $10,000 and get the extended-range battery pack.
But the expenditure does not end there, if you go for that extended battery, then you might have to add in another expensive 312A High package which comes with an array of benefits but still adds more pennies to the bill.
This is the first mainstream electric pickup ever, so you get what it entails. Now, the base model facing a massive price hike would be the Pro, which starts at a massive price of $53,769.
The Lariat Extended range adds $5000 to the XLT price and starts at $87,769, while the top-end model, Platinum Extended Range, starts off at a price of $98,669.
While the electric pickup truck has its widely accepted appeal, one thing that came as a shock to every Ford loyal fan base member is the massive hike in price in the entry-level variants.
The entry-level Pro model went up to $12,000 for the 2023 model year and is now priced at $53,769, this came as not only a shock but also an unexpected surprise since no new feature was added for this year.
While the entry-level variant is not the only one with the price hike, the others get a lesser amount hike compared to Pro.
The heavily loaded top-end model, Platinum, now gets a $6000 hike and goes off at a price of $98,669.
The most recommended XLT gets a $6500 hike and goes off at a price of $82,769, and Lariat gets a hike of $7000 and goes at a price of $87,769.
This has become a new trend that many customers hate, wherein car companies just elevate the price for a new model year without any added benefits.
While some do this while they are, in fact, working on significant changes for the upcoming year, still, it cannot be said with any certainty.
The reason Ford gave for these price hikes was the limited supply chain and rising material costs, and other factors which directly influences the automakers.
So, simply put, the demand for Lightning is high, so the confidence Ford gets is that loyal ones that need it will buy it no matter what.
Every variant of Lightning comes with standard All-wheel drive and two electric motors under the hood.
If you opt for the extended-range battery, you can rev up the pickup to 580 horsepower, which otherwise has a combined horsepower of 452.
The peak torque, which puts this pickup in a class of its own, is 775 pound-feet for both the extended and non-extended ranges.
The performance of this pickup truck is phenomenal, and thus the demand.
If you go for the smaller 98.0-kWh battery, you can drive up to 230 miles per charge. If you go for the bigger 131.0-kWh battery, then you get 320 miles per charge.
Ford has also made a miraculous addition by making the Lightning capable of serving as a backup generator for an entire household for three days straight in case of any emergencies.
The interiors are the same as the non-EV version, but Lightning gets some updates in the size of infotainment units and other features.
The space where the big engine of a normal F-150 sits adds up to extra trunk space in Lightning which gives you a whole 400 pounds of extra load capacity.
With an extended-battery range, the Lightning has a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. At the same time, the standard ones have a capacity of 7700 pounds.
The payload capacity of the standard battery ones is 2000 pounds, and the extended-battery range has a capacity of 1800 pounds.
It is ranked number one among its fellow EV pickup trucks. So, if you are in the market for an EV pickup truck, you go for it without any hesitation.
